Before Tøffen died, she was Doffen's girlfriend. Dusken became his new girlfriend right after.
Doffen and Dusken made this lovely cute couple, just look at their happiness. I think Tøffen is glad that Doffen found love again.
Dusken laid a couple of eggs these days, so we are MAYBE expecting babies (; Doffen want it so bad to be a father. He is laying on the eggs all day long.
We had a similar situation where after Liriel died Maui and my wife were both so very depressed. Luna came along and shook them both out of it, though ironically Luna is more with Vinnie now. Not that this stops Maui from making up to her still. She really rules the roost.
I think my Dusken has an egg problem..sort of. She can't quit making eggs. It looks like she really REALLY want kids. When she started to lay eggs last june, there was nothing inside them. Then she was sitting on the eggs for a while, before she started to produce new ones for july..She kept doing this until november. layting one clutch each month. we have tried to give her fake eggs, but I don't think it works. She laid new eggs this january. Looks like she has begun again >_>
This is common. Female cockatiels can lay eggs even without a mate around. There are ways to help control this such as controlling the amount of light they get to avoid 'nesting season,' but in the end you may just want to help make certain she gets enough good food and protein, and leave those eggs in a good long time so she does not keep replacing them.
I know, but I was thinking about that if your female laid eggs because she thought she was having kids..Since mine did so xD Dusken laid eggs right after she fell inlove.
yeah we have tried to just leave the eggs there till they got really rotten ew..., but I am so concerned if there may be something inside, some of the times...and that we wont see it before its too late.
she also eats on these special calciumblocks made of.... cuttlefish I think. it makes her stronger
Oh, Luna thinks she is having kids, but she isn't. ::chuckles::
Yeah, cuttlebone is very important. We had a female who died because we think she was putting too much into laying eggs. She was exhibiting egg-binding and it all just took its toll on her, so nutrition is vital with laying birds.
I know how it is. Tøffen got eggbounded, but it was no lack of vitamins or calcium that caused it : ( It was because her body was too small to produce eggs. There was nothing we could do. The vet got the egg out, but she died a few days later, probably because the process was too much for her to handle...poor little thing : (
did they also lay eggs?
